My Pick Of The 11 Best Netflix TV Shows

It’s that time of year, where it’s socially acceptable to stay in the house, in your PJs and watch TV, more to the point.. Netflix TV Shows! Wahooo.

I absolutely love TV. There, I said it.

I know I”m probably supposed to say I enjoy reading and developing my mind, and all that jazz, but in reality, I just love being absorbed in to a TV show and completely taking my mind off my never ending list of problems – yay for adulthood.

So I thought I’d put out a blog post out on my favourite Netflix finds.. you won’t be sorry!

#1 POWER

Wow. This TV Show has slightly taken over my life, but in the best way! Me and my boyfriend decided to start watching this one night after work, just to have something to do that night, and well 4 hours later that night we were hooked instantly. We’ve been watching it for around two weeks now and we’re already closing in on season 4.. whoops.

It draws you in from the beginning, and has you hanging on the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns. It’s also co-produced by 50 Cent and has a rather catchy opening sequence!

It follows the life of James “Ghost” St. Patrick as he juggles his drug empire with his new club empire. Dealing with relationships, the law and his enemies in the process!

Watch if you like Narcos and Empire.

#2 SUITS

I freaking love Suits. And I mean LOVE. Harvey Specter is just wow. If you want one reason to watch this show, he is it! It follows Harvey Specter (gush) who hires a college dropout, Mike Ross to become his associate lawyer.. small problem.. the fact that Ross isn’t actually a lawyer is a small bump in the road. However, in order to keep their jobs, the charade must remain strictly between these two unconventional thinkers.

#3 FRIENDS FROM COLLEGE

This is relatively new to Netflix, and I stumbled across it one afternoon, whilst I was ironing, lol. I like to put Netflix on while I’m ironing in the background, just so I have something to listen to. I found this show and thought it could be something I didn’t really concentrate fully on while ironing.. oh how wrong I was. 10 minutes in and I had turned off the iron and got myself comfy on my bed.

I managed to watch the entire season in a week and was heart broken to find out there were no more seasons until 2018.. err hello, I’m addicted here?!

It follows a group of friends from Harvard who are heading into a new era in their 40s. It delves into interwoven and complicated relationships, including former romantic entanglements and comedic explorations of old bonds. As everyone tries to manage their lives as adults – errr, relatable much?!

#4 THE GOOD WIFE

I’d heard everyone banging on about this show, and never really thought anything of it. However, because I’m a sucker for legal dramas, I eventually gave in and watched a few episodes, and I love it. I was heart broken when the entire series ended and I couldn’t binge watch it anymore.

It’s a typical women’s programme, with the leading cast member being a women. It’s full of girl power moments, and you just generally want her to succeed in a world where men seemingly rule – lol, I don’t know about this world?

The story follows Alicia Florrick, who finds herself in the middle of her husband’s very public sex and political-corruption scandal. She resumes her career as a defense attorney, shedding her persona as the embarrassed wife of a politician, and takes charge of her destiny – yes, girl! You got this!

You will be filled with laughs, pride, tears and a whole load of other feels watching this!

Watch if you like Grey’s Anatomy and Gossip Girl.

#5 HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

Guys. Prepare yourself. There’s 9 seasons on Netflix. Your Autumn and Winter is sorted. You’re welcome.

How I Met Your Mother is my all time favourite show. I never ever get sick of it, and that’s why it made the cut. I’ve watched it all the way through at least 8 times, and I find new jokes to laugh at every time.

Also, Neil Patrick Harris is just goals in this. He’s quite frankly, amazing!

It follows the romantic journey of Ted, a hopeless romantic in his quest to find the mother of his children, who he’s already met, we just don’t know! The series is him telling his exceedingly long story about how he met the women of his dreams – awww! It also follows the stories of his 4 closest friends too.

Watch if you like Friends (er, who doesn’t?!) and the Big Bang Theory

#6 GIRL BOSS

I’d never heard anything about this, which is totally surprising, since it is actually based on the rise of the fashion label – Nasty Gal, which I really love! I’ve just recently started watching this, but I already love it, and it’s really inspiring to watch for us wanna-be entrepreneurs out there! Go get ’em!

It’s inspired by Sophia Amoruso’s best-selling book and follows Sophia, a rebellious, broke anarchist who decides to start selling vintage clothing online. As her passion, and retail fashion empire, begins to grow, Sophia unexpectedly becomes a businesswoman, who starts realize the value of being the boss of her own life.

Watch if you Grace and Frankie & 13 Reasons Why

#7 THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR

I mean, do I even need to explain/big this up?!

Want a trip down memory lane – get to Netflix IMMEDIATELY and watch as many episodes as possible!

Promise you won’t be humming the tune.. ‘now, this is a story all about how, my life got flipped-turned upside down. And I’d like to take a minute, just sit right there, I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air..’

HASHTAG sorry, not sorry.

Watch if you like TV at all?!

#8 ME BEFORE YOU

Oh my gosh, guys. This film is seriously beautiful. Absolutely heart-breaking, and I mean HEART BREAKING.

You will cry! And not those films, where a single tear drop rolls from your cheek and you leave the cinema thinking, oh that was beautiful. No, I mean full on, ugly crying. Tears, snot, the lot. It will all appear after this, and you’ll be left feeling a bit sad and empty once it’s ended for a while, but I promise you it is sooo worth it.

It follows Lou, who takes a job as caregiver for Will Traynor, a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier, to support her family. Will’s cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living.. oh my. Pass me the tissues!

Watch if you like The Fault In Our Stars & The Longest Ride.

#9 BROOKLYN NINE NINE

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Is there a funnier man than Andy Samberg?! I challenge you to find him. He’s also pretty hot. Not in a regular, wow-I-want-to-rip-the-clothes-off-him-hotness, but he is hilarious, and in my opinion that makes any many hot.

The TV show is great to just switch off completely to. You don’t have to think, you just have to watch. And laugh. Plenty of laughs.

HINT: The Halloween episode in season 3 is actually hilarious!

The series is set in the 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn, and follows a team of detectives headed by the newly appointed Captain Ray Holt (who is also hilarious, btw!). You follow them as they solve cases, get in to trouble and throughout their relationships.

Watch if you like New Girl and The Mindy Project

#10 THE GILMORE GIRLS

Aww, guys, The Gilmore Girls. I don’t think there’s anyone, including my nan, who hasn’t watched a single episode of the Gilmore Girls, but I thought I’d put that in here in case you’re of that 1% of the population who has never heard of it.

If that’s the case. Drop whatever you’re doing. Seriously, leave work, find your nearest Netflix and relax! Watching the Gilmore Girls is like getting a giant hug – you’ll be filled with happiness and nostalgia, as it takes you back to when you were at school – the earlier seasons anyway!

It follows the lovely relationship between Lorelai Gilmore, and her daughter, Rory, as they navigate through life, relationships, career changes and their frosty relationship with Lorelai’s parent’s.

Watch if you like any form of chick-flick/family programme.

#11 EVEREST

This is a bit of a different one to my seemingly easy-watching theme. However, it’s incredible. I watched this when it was originally released at the Cinema and it touched me so much, I bought the book and immediately decided I was going to become a climber – fast forward two years, and I’m definitely not a mountain climber, on the verge of climbing Everest, but I do still love this movie and was over the moon when I found it had appeared on Netflix!

It follows two expeditions, who start their final ascent toward the summit of Mount Everest. With little warning, a violent storm strikes the mountain, engulfing the adventurers in one of the fiercest blizzards ever encountered by man. Challenged by the harshest conditions imaginable, the teams must endure blistering winds and freezing temperatures in an epic battle to survive against nearly impossible odds.

Wow – I’ve just sold it to myself again. It’s incredible!

Let me know what you’ve been watching recently!
